On Thursday, Gyanendra Tiwari from ABP News tweeted about teenager Palni Kumari from Jharkhand, and shared the story of the 12-year-old girl who lost her father when she was one and a half years old. Palni aspires to become a nurse because she thinks only nurses serve the people and is a noble job. In order to support her education, she sells gram by the roadside near busstands while her mother earns by selling peanuts to passengers in buses. Palni, like many other girls of her age has big dreams, and is also a bright student and belongs to Simdega (a small city 140 kms away from capital Ranchi) and achieved 75 per cent in 6th class. Whatever time she tries to squeeze out during the day, Palni devotes it to studying as she believes only education can improve her and family’s standard of living.
Taking note of her struggle, Gautam Adani replied on Twitter saying he would be fortunate to support the education of the girl and sought details of Palni’s family. Adani tweeted, “Such a big idea for a little girl … It would be a privilege for me to take responsibility for Palni’s education. If any of you have contact details of her family, please give it to me.”
Gautam Adani, who runs a non-profit organisation named Adani Foundation, further said that daughters are the hope of a new and stronger India and it is the responsibility of all of us to give them a better tomorrow.
Meanwhile, after Gyanendra Tiwari’s tweet, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has also asked district commissior to go there and help Palni’s family through government schemes and arrange better education for her.
